The endogenous Endocannabinoid-System is one of the most important physiologic systems involved in human health. The brain, vital organs, immune cells, and even connective tissue contain Endocannabinoid-Receptors, which are tasked with maintaining the stability of our body’s internal processes.

The Cannabinoid receptor CB1 is mainly located in nerve cells, most commonly found in the cerebellum, but also found in the peripheral nervous system (e.g. in the intestine). The CB1-Receptors in the brain are concerned with coordination, movement, pain, emotions, mood, thinking, appetite and memory.
In contrast, the Cannabinoid receptors CB2 of the Endocannabinoid-System are predominantly located on cells of the immune system and influence inflammation and pain. All Cannabinoids, including CBD, can naturally bind to certain Cannabinoid-Receptors in the body for their effects to unfold.
Although research on the Endocannabinoid-System is still in its infancy, science has continued to find out that Cannabinoids can also act on other receptors and thus being able to initiate a variety of health-supporting processes.
